Some NSBE Facts
* The founding NSBE chapter began at Purdue University in 1976
* The founding fathers of NSBE are famously known as the Chicago Six of which are: Anthony Harris, Brian Harris, Edward Coleman, Stanley Kirtley, George Smith, and John Logan, Jr
* The mission of NSBE is to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers to excel academically, succeed professionally, and positively impact the community
* NSBE is a Non-profit association dedicated to the academic and professional success of African-American engineering and technical students and professionals
* NSBE offers leadership training, professional and academic development, mentoring opportunities, community service outreach programs and scholarships
* NSBE programs include career fairs, graduate school fairs, technical research projects, academic competitions, scholarships and awards
* The symbols of NSBE are two lightning bolts and a torch
* The nation's largest student-managed society with over 400 chapters divided into six regions and governed by a national executive board
* NSBE hosts 18 regional conferences, an international conference and national convention which draws over 10,000 people
* Has more than 33,000 members including over 9,500 pre-college students
* The Motherland Region is Region IV, which happens to include the Rose-Hulman chapter
